Entry #11: It is not the end...It is just the turning point!!!
Well, that was quick, I still can't believe that time passed quickly and 8-week have come to an end. I didn't expect this fast.
For me, this course has helped me a lot so far to improve my writing skill. One thing that I love so much in this class is doing blog.
To be honest, this was my first time making my own blog like this. I have heard about blog few years ago, but I am not really interesting at blog at that time. I believed that it would just waste my time because I thought that blog was just like a diary, where people on the internet talking about their life, and other people will comment about it. Being an introvert, I do not like it when I tell my whole life on social networks and I feel that there is no benefit in blogging. Until I took this class and started blogging, I realized I was wrong.
I never ever could imagine that I would have my own blog someday. After the first day when I heard that blogging is an assignment throughout this class, I was very confused and almost wanted to drop out (LOL!) However, I was curious how this could help me in writing, so I decided to give it a try. So...Yeah...Challenge Accepted!!!
At this point, I believed that was one of my best decisions I have ever made. I have learned many things by blogging. I realized that blog is not like a diary at all, it could be some stories, journals, life experience, and anything that you want to share with your friends, or the whole world. At first, it was a bit difficult for me because I had no idea what to write and how should I write. After reviewing for some blogs and the instruction, I decided to share about something that has inspired me recently, K-Pop. After a few posts, I felt very interesting and comfortable writing about my hobby and sharing this with others. Not to mention that I didn't expect to write a lot but I actually write a lot; my posts were somehow very long than I thought. LOL! I was really into it, I guess. Now, I have a different view on blogging. It was not as boring as I thought and I took it seriously.
Now, I really like blogging. For me, it is not only an assignment, it is a place where I can write about anything, and I feel very comfortable writing blog. I am a foreigner who is not native English speaker, but by writing blogs, I have learned more about tone, voice, and writing styles etc. This has helped me a lot. It helped me with becoming a more confident writer and come out of my comfort zone. I really really want to write and speak English fluently with confidence. Blogging is a turning point for me.
In short, I enjoyed blogging. I didn't expect to learn anything or write a lot in my posts, but somehow blog aroused my interest in writing. Now I can see why we had to do it in this course. I believe that if anyone want to improve their writing skill, especially for people who are not native english speaker, they should try blogging. It can be difficult for the first post you may find it useful after all.
I would highly recommend taking this English class with Professor Nielson.
